Adventures in flying – Crazy Questions and things

The flight experience; the things passengers do on planes.

Touching flight attendants to get their attention is a really good way to get on a flight attendant’s bad side. Most people don’t like being “poked.” A better way to get their attention: Maam, Sir, Miss, anything but poking, touching their butt, their side.

When you are boarding a flight, Is the flight full?  Remember more people fly all the time now. So it is likely the flight is full. It’s probably better to ask the gate agent first. He/she probably has more accurate information about the flight than the flight attendant. The flight attendant gets his/her info from the agent.

When boarding a flight, it’s always a good idea to say hello to the flight attendant especially when they say hello to you.  How can you expect to get great service from the flight attendant when you ignore their greeting? You are more likely to get great service with a smile if you say hello. And you never know if your hello will pull a flight attendant out of there funk.

Many today wear their headphones especially those with noise cancelling features. They are great except when it comes to service. All flight attendants will let you know when they are beginning service. If and when you see them, take off your headphones or get off of your device until they take your order. It’s very rude to either ignore or try to communicate with the flight attendant with your headphones on.  Your are less likely to get good service and more likely to get attitude.

When passengers are placing their bags in the overhead bin, it will help you leave on time if you place the bag and step out of the aisle letting other people behind you get their seat and stow their bags as well. It might help to get everything you need out of the bag BEFORE you get onto the plane.

Remember, flight attendants are there PRIMARILY for your safety, service is a bonus for which most are very happy to provide. Help them help you have a good flying experience!

What makes it hard to close the lavatory door on the plane? It’s funny passengers always open the door to go in, but coming out, so frequently they don’t close it.  Why is that? Yes, some doors are harder to close than others, but again, it was opened to enter. The same goes for flushing the toilet. Don’t understand why some passengers struggle with flushing. Do people think it is the job of the flight attendant to close the door and flush the toilet? I am sure passengers would want flight attendants to continue washing their hands while serving. Take a minute to close the lavatory door and flush the toilet. Common courtesy. If you don’t do it at your home, ok, do it in your own home, not on the plane.

Help keep the flying experience positive!!
